We have one of these cleaners that is a few years old and rarely used. It does an awful job at sucking up the left over water on the carpet you have to step on it as you push it in order to get it to suck up any water at all. our rugs are dirty we have 3 dogs and a baby. SO when I used this cleaner I got VERY VERY drity water so It does do some cleaning. It is just hard to use and does not work as well as if should. I am looking for a new one.

I bought this on Amazon from Mr. Vacuum and Ms. Sew to replace my Hoover wind tunnel. I have had two Hoover wind tunnels that have lasted an average of 3-4 years. Before that I had a Eureka vacumn cleaner.

I bought this vacuum based on the review of others and the expected life of this vacuum cleaner. I haven't had much opportunity to use the vacuum so far, but I noticed a big plus is the noise level is much quieter than any of my previous vacuum cleaners. The wand can be adjusted which is a great plus. My husband made the comment that after I am done cleaning the house the air does not smell like dust. I also like the different levels to set the suction power and the retractable cord.

I bought this in November. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because the length of the power cord requires moving the plug for vacuuming a few rooms. The catcher bin is small, but for me that is a positive since my family is more likely to empty it each time.

The suction is great, it runs so quietly that I can even run it during nap time with out waking 2 very easily disturbed toddlers. It goes around very smoothly and transition from vacuum to tools is smooth and easy. We love it and the best part is that it is so light weight that my 8 and 12 year olds can carry it upstairs on their own to vacuum their rooms.

I also like that it is more neutral in color.

We had a Dirt Devil I don't recall the model but it was the 60$ one. This Bissell is 100% better worth the extra money. The vacuum is a little on the heavier side compared to the Dirt Devil but I don't mind. I like the idea where you don't have expensive filters to replace, you can wash out this with warm water. My Dirt Devil filter was about 30$ each time I had to replace it. I have only used this once so far but what I have see I am really happy with.

This machine has two kneading stirrers, while most machines have only one. It also has a bigger, stronger motor than many machines, to handle its two-pound loaf capacity. For gluten-free breads, both of these features are important, because gluten-free dough tends to be thicker and heavier than wheat dough.

With many gluten-free recipes, you need to slowly fold in the flour mix or scrape dry ingredients off the sides of the pan when the kneading cycle begins. This machine has a horizontal pan, which bakes a horizontal loaf (like you buy in the store). Many smaller machines bake a vertical loaf in a vertical pan, which is harder to work on because of the narrower pan and its depth.

This machine does not have a gluten-free cycle. However, in our experience, this cycle is unnecessary. The better gluten free bread books will tell you exactly how to make the recipe work without a gluten free cycle.

We had no breadmaking experience before purchasing this machine. In doing our research, we learned that gluten-free bread recipes were somewhat more sensitive in terms of the precise ingredients and instructions than wheat recipes. This machine's programmability and flexibility make it easy to follow the exact recipe.

I strongly recommend purchasing a gluten-free bread book with this machine. We have three:

125 Best Gluten-Free Bread Machine Recipes: the most in-depth book, with detailed instructions for cycles, temperatures, etc. If it was written for a single machine like the book above, it would be much simpler. However, the recipes are great (the bread sticks are amazing).

The Gluten-Free Gourmet Bakes Bread: More Than 200 Wheat-Free Recipes: contains instructions that will work with any machine.

It takes some practice to bake good gluten-free bread, but the results are worthwhile. This machine is the best path to success. Enjoy!

We liked this much better then the garbage black n decker cheap one we bought 2 years ago, but the plastic hub that holds the top slicer stripped in 3 weeks of use on this.

The motor is strong, but putting hard foods like carrots in puts wear and tear on that hub very quickly. One turned sideways and wedged itself in the cutting blade jamming the machine, and the plastic hub stripped.

If it was metal there wouldn't be an issue, but stripping in 3 weeks is obviously a design flaw.

this vacuum is equal in quality to the $50-$70 vacuums you can get at walmart. the suction is ok at best. it is heavy to move around when vacuuming. i owned this model for about a year before trading it in for something better. i bought a simplicity synergy and was well worth the money. the sanitaire was a waste of money and i should have saved my money to put towards a better quality vac cleaner. the two things i like about the sanitaire are the compact design and folding handle for easy storage. also it was pretty good about picking the cheeios that my little ones drop on the floor, but that was about it. it always left the fine crumbs on the floor. the attachements on this vacuum always fell off, it would lose suction when the bag was only half full, it was heavy to push, and very loud. made this loud high pitched sound from the first day i owned it. equal in sucion to my compact eureka with the folding handle. my carpets and hard surface floors did not ever look clean when using this vacuum. this was very discouraging, i mean, if it isnt working hardly what is the point in vacuuming! in contrast with the simplicity i actually love vacuuming. it is heavier in weight and bulkier in size but easier to push than the sanitaire. i cannot recommend the sanitaire.

I've had two of these for a few years. I bought them at the same time from a Sears surplus store. The power switch broke on one of them after maybe two years. "One of these days" I'll fix it. The other is still working OK.

These have a surprising amount of power and do a good job of sweeping. They are relatively compact and light weight. One consequence of the light weight is construction that is less than industrial strength in some spots, so the still working sweeper I have is showing its age. But, considering the price, I think that is to be expected.

Replacing the power head belt might be a challenge for those who have little mechanical ability. However, the power head uses a standard Royal #4 belt which you can get replaced at just about any commercial janitor supply.

In June I purchased the Miele S7580. I went to an authorized dealer and spent about an hour with the sales person and test drove some vacuums. At first I was all set to buy a Dyson Animal. The dealer said in his opinion the Dysons are always breaking, the store had a room full of Dysons waiting for repair. The Miele S7580 is top of the line and according to the sales person this is the last vacuum I will need to purchase. I am counting on that since I don't want to spend anymore money on a vacuum. We have a one floor home with Oriental carpets and hard wood floors. The Miele upright works great on the large carpets, but I use the hose with the "all floor attachment" -- another $60 on the hardwood and small carpets. This upright can be positioned almost completely horizontal to vacuum under beds and other furniture. I suppose I should have considered the canister model for my situation but it took too much muscle to use the canister model on the large carpets. The suction on the S7580 is strong and can be adjusted if needed for drapes and other light fabrics. There is an automatic setting that works great on the large carpet. When I balked at the price the dealer threw in a replacement bag and a free tune up in one year. Since shoes and dogs are allowed in our house I vacuum most days. The Miele S7580 really picks up all the dirt and dog hair that accumulates. Some days I pick up enough dog hair! I will update this review in a few months.

I purchased this vacuum in March 2010 because it had so many good reviews and was cheaper than the Dyson I was looking at. Please don't waste your money! It is now July and it keeps breaking on me. I am unable to return the item so I have to spend time and gas money taking it to & from the repair shop. Thankfully it is still under warranty.

I should have returned it when I first felt "disappointed". It doesn't accept attachments which was a minor dissappointment in the beginning. The cleaning wand is pretty short which makes it hard to clean the base boards around the house without bending over and makes it difficult to reach those high places as well. The canister has to be emptied often and is very messy as others have stated in their reviews. We have some carpet, tile and hardwood floors which require switching gears. Although that is easily done with the push of a button, it doesn't always switch gears like it should. The wheels do not turn/roll very well and they make a squeaky noise once in awhile. It doesn't vacuum "throw" rugs, small bathroom rugs or kitchen rugs very well either. The machine has always felt "cheaply" made, but looks good. Anyways, I really wish I would have returned it earlier. I was really trying to make it work and was hopeful especially since it had so many great reviews. I had a Dyson for 8 years and had no problems with it. I was looking for a new vacuum because I dropped the Dyson canister and broke it...My Dyson still works, so I probably should have just bought a new canister instead of the Hoover. I am so disappointed.

Don't rely on all of the good reviews. If you do purchase this machine, and notice anything that doesn't seem right, take it back right away! Check with your friends to see what vacuum cleaners they use. Unfortunately, my sister has a Dyson, my neighbors machines have also been breaking, and others didn't have any good reports for me. So, I relyed on the web reviews. Now I'm out a great deal of money!

So I'm definitely one that researches the CRAP out of my technological products - my roomba maybe a little to the extreme. After reading the reviews there was a trend that they don't last too long - so I decided to get the cheapest model and replace it every couple years instead of being out alot more money with the $500 models. So I trucked down to walmart and bought the cheapy model.

We've now had the little darling for 2 months. Background info: We run it in our living room and kitchen nearly everyday (hardwood floors, linoleum, area rugs). We have three border collies (LOTS of fur). Now my review:

It takes a while... about an hour and a half (if you've kept up on the cleaning... longer if you've left it a couple days). Does it do a perfect job? No. It does a pretty half ass job.... but if it does a half ass job every day - in two days it would be 100%... and well I don't vacuum like at all - so it does a better job then I do. I would not suggest this for someone that is home all day either. We're home school students - so it gets a little annoying, but if your okay turning your TV up loud - you can definitely still watch the price as right while it's running.

If I wasn't home all day I would really suggest getting the "home base". It's kind of a pain if you don't know where it stopped.

Cleaning the brushes is not really that bad. (remember 3 shedding dogs). The little tool helps alot, but an utility knife helps with the wound up hairs every once in a while. We also had it have it's first error today. Looked up online - couldn't find out what to do. Called irobot customer service. Was on hold no longer than 20 seconds after the prompts. Definitely a call centre with an indian lady - we had a couple language barriers but I've had worse with call centres. She let us know that hair gets wrapped around some of the barring that the manual doesn't tell you to clean every day... so manual - not very helpful - customer service a 8/10 (apple being a 10/10 so 8 is still really good!)

Overall - I recommend it for people that are away from home every day for a couple hours. People who are tech-junkies. People with pets (it does help!), people with mobility issues.

Not recommended for - technophobes (the weird pattern it makes isn't all that convincing) is easy to use though. People that are home all day. Perfectionist. People with rugs with tassles.

First of all, in terms of cleaning power, this is a great vacuum. It picks up a bunch of stuff other vacuums leave behind. I do like how powerful it is, and I like how the handle becomes the 'wand' for picking up small things/crevices. We've had this vacuum for 2 years, and we use it fairly often. As a result of use, the vacuum isn't quite as 'tight' as day 1, but that shouldn't be a reason for this vacuum to tip over -- we have to exercise great care to avoid it tipping over backwards, because it is very top heavy. That's a bad design in my book. It is also very heavy overall, not really an issue for me (no stairs), but my wife has commented on this more than a couple times.

The delivery was great. The product itself is good, there's just one problem. It says that it's dishwasher safe but it really isn't. The reason I had to buy this replacement bowl is that I washed the original one in the dishwasher. For some reason water gets trapped in the handle and then it gets quite moldy and disgusting and there's no way to clean it. I didn't feel comfortable using it anymore. Really, other than that one issue it's a fine product.

Perhaps I have not found the way to do this, but the vacuum head on this unit does not appear to have a height adjustment. This is a problem when vacuuming in a house with hardwood floors and different level carpet pile. Works great on the hardwood, but the higher pile carpet is a bit of a pain as the spinning brush gets pretty bogged down in the higher carpet. What am I missing? I like the other features of this vacuum - great suction, light, easy to move around and the large wheels do help with maneuverability. Bagless is good and makes cleaning out easy and quick.

I had purchased this item from a retail store not from Amazon. This Black and Decker's center stem split in half two weeks before the 12 months waranty expired. Contacted B&D's supplier for parts (Fox) . They gladly sent the part FREE... However it arrived to be the Processer's bowl. Somehow, there is no part number for the center post/stem and we can't manage to describe it correctly to the person trying to help us at their parts store. So now after three weeks of trying to get it and getting the answer from one service person that my B&D food processor is no longer usable, I sent them a picture of the part in case this would better explain the part needed. It's been two days now and no answer. What a waste for my time, $$$ and for the environement. I'll need to throw away an 11 month old food processor. It was a great machine while it worked.

I got this vacuum as a gift from my mother becuase our old one was dead. I only use it on 1 rug and in 1 room as the rest fo the house is tiled or has wood floors. I wish I could use it on hard floors, but all the dirt shoots out the back and I have to sweep anyway. I have 3 dogs that shed alot and ususally sweep all the time. I have maybe used this vacuum 3 times since getting it and everytime I have to take it apart (unscrew the hoses, etc) to unclog it. Even after removing clogs, the suction is awful. If you have pets, I would NOT reccomend this vacuum. Mine came with a pet hair remover brush that is supposed to spin, but the suction is so bad it wont even turn with a little push. Hope I can return it...

I bought this for our church.

The Good: it ran relatively quiet. It sucked debris very good, on bare tile floor and carpet, easy to use, nice long hose.

The OK: A little difficult to re-attach the dust cup -- not that big a deal.

The Bad: After having it one month someone, not me, vacuumed up a few pieces of shattered safety glass. It now sounds like a lawn mower. A Vacuum repairman told me although called a commercial, it really isn't. He said the brush roller was damaged and it was not part of the warranty. I guess it makes sense a hollow wood roller isn't as durable as the old steel ones. You would think they could take a little beating though, since it is "commercial".

I've owned Miele kitchen appliances so I thought a Miele vacuum was a no-brainer. Adequate on rugs, carpets. Very poor function on hardwoods, tile. The exhaust from the HEPA filter blows dust and debris away from the front of the vacuum before it's able to be suctioned up. The only was to keep from chasing pet hair across the floor is to turn the motor speed to low and pull the handle down to the floor so the exhaust fan is directed off the floor. The handle is also very flexible with rotation and has split in half.

I bought this steam cleaner right after I bought my new home 10 years ago. At the time, I spent over $250 for this machine but I have NEVER regretted it. I steam clean my carpets with this at least 2 times a year (spring and fall) and every time one of the dogs has one of those "little" accidents.

This thing is nearly invincible. I have had this nearly 10 years and only now do I have to replace a part. I went to Hoover's website and found the new hose (after 10 years, the hose has developed a hole at the base where it is secured in the housing). The part wasn't too expensive. It only takes a couple of days to receive and I'm back to cleaning. (Good thing because I just spilled coffee on the carpet). I can't believe that something made nearly 10 years ago still has parts readily available. That has to tell you something about Hoover's products. They're quality and they last a long time.

I get my solution in a gallon jug at Sears. I think that has a better smell and it doesn't leave such a soapy residue (which makes your carpets softer and dry faster). Believe it or not, my carpets still look good after 10 years with 2 dogs and 1 rambunctious teenager.

I read someone's review that the tank is hard to clean. Let me tell you, I have two dogs and lots of dog fur. I put the whole thing right into the tub. I plug up the drain and put just a little water on the bottom of the tub. I turn on the steam vac (turn off the tub water first because electricity and water don't mix) and suck up the water in the bottom of the tub. This cleans out the fur in the front port. I pull out the steam vac and dump the canister and rinse it out in running tub water. That's it. Coil up the cord and you are done. If you are an older person and can't pick up the vac (it is a little heavy and cumbersome at times), squirt some water out onto a linoleum floor and suck it up with the steam vac. It does the same thing. When I get really spunky, I wash my bathroom floor with it. It cleans my floor and the port at the same time. The canister is ONLY hard to clean if you have used it and do not rinse it out when you are done. The dog fur dries and the soap cakes up in the canister making it difficult to get out. I only did that one time. It was a lesson learned. Really, the 2-3 minutes that you spend rinsing it out when you are done is well worth it.

Honestly I don't know what I ever did without this steam vac and I hope I never have to find out. With the rate that I am going, I can pass this down to my son.

I had a Hoover Elite for nearly 20 years and I loved it. It was a workhorse, but it gave out right before Christmas in 2007. In a hurry to get a new vacuum to prepare for guests, I purchased a Dirt Devil. It was a disaster from the beginning. It blew dust everywhere instead of sucking it and although it was lightweight, there was no convenient place to grab it. The onboard attachments were very short so the vacuum HAD to be picked up to actually use them. I could go on and on about the negatives so I was not all that unhappy when it broke - except it was on Christmas day 2009 as I was doing the last minute vacuuming prior to picking up my house guest at the airport. This time I determined I would get a good vacuum cleaner even if it meant I had to go without vacuuming for awhile. Fortunately, I found this one and when it arrived, it was fairly easy to assemble. When I used it, I was very happy to have the power of Hoover back. Even though I had not been able to thoroughly vacuum for a few weeks, it sucked up pet fur with only 1 or 2 passes (instead of the 8-10 passes the Dirt Devil required) and took less time to vacuum my entire house than it took to vacuum a 6x9 area rug with the Dirt Devil. This is definitely a worthwhile purchase. it's not the prettiest vacuum in the world, but it more than makes up for lack of glamorous looks by how well it works. I highly recommend this vacuum.

I bought this unit to replace a 10 year old GE dishwasher that was noisy and whose racks were rusting. Since my house has an open floor plan, I was looking for a quiet unit. I seriously considered Bosch dishwashers, which are the industry leaders for quiet operation and low energy consumption. However, I was disappointed with their flimsy construction, small interior capacity, and poor lower rack design. This GE dishwasher is fairly quiet, with a good rack design and a very sturdy door. Since I am not a fan of hidden top-mounted controls, this model's front mounted controls appealed to me. So far, this GE dishwasher has been very good at cleaning. I am disappointed with GE quality; the front control panel is misaligned, and the screws on the door were quite loose. One of the tabs on the silverware basket broke within a week. GE quality control appears to be asleep at the switch. Also, GE's website states that this model has several features (cutlery tray, angled rack dry system) that are, in fact, absent on this model, which basically constitutes false advertising.

Pros:

* Cleans dishes well

* Good rack design

* Sturdy construction

* Generally quiet operation

* Well designed controls with remaining time readout

* Long warranty

Cons:

* Poor assembly quality

* False claims on GE website regarding features

* Expensive

* Not as quiet or as energy efficient as competing models

* Doesn't qualify for the "Cash for Clunkers" appliance program in Massachusetts

Bottom line:

A decent dishwasher marred by poor quality control and a high price tag.

The first refurb that Amazon sent over was defective. The head wouldn't securely fasten to the telescoping wand, resulting in the rotary brush frequently and uncontrollably shutting off.

I contacted Amazon and they paid for return shipping and dispatched a second unit even before I sent the first back. Great service.

The second unit had some small scrapes, but I guess that's about par for refurbished units. It works great though, which is all that matters. The functioning, weight, ease of use, quietness, etc., are all what I expected from such an expensive, and much-hyped, vacuum cleaner brand. Beats the heck out of my ancient upright.

Holy smokes! Everything good that everybody wrote for this review is TRUE. I have gone through 2 juicers already and I was looking for one that I didn't have to clean up my counter and floor in addition to the juicer after I was done with it. THIS is THAT JUICER! You still have to clean it but the difference is I don't have pulp flinging onto the counter or floor when I'm using it. I appreciate the spout being fully inserted into the pitcher where the juice is collected. No spills, no squirts, anywhere near it. It's also less noisy than the other two juicers I've used. The funnel or opening where you feed the vegetables/fruits is bigger than most of the juicers I've worked with - which means I don't have to do any cutting beforehand when I use it. I can just feed the produce in. This was worth the price that I paid for.

Vacuum works great I have a German Shepherd and 3 cats and have no problems. The pet power paw could be designed beter to keep hair from jamming it up but that only happened when I tried it on my dog's bed. The vac is pretty heavy but my girlfriend carries it up the stairs with no problem. For the money you can't go wrong with this one.

It's a powerful vacuum for sure. And much much quieter then our Kenmore. Fantastic for upholstery and the car. I mean really, really fantastic. And great on carpet. Its biggest weakness is bare floors -- I think the floor attachment is just too big to maintain a really high level of suction. It picks up dirt fine, but not things like Cheerios. And with a three-year-old, that's kind of a problem. I'm guessing another attachment -- the parquet tool or smooth floor tool -- would solve the problem. But I shouldn't have to pay another $60 to get a $500 vacuum to pick of Cheerios. If it came with a bare floor attachment, I'd easily give it 5 stars. As it stands, I'm rounding up from 3.5 stars.

This carpet cleaner doesn't suck the water back out of the carpet, I would guess only about 25% of the water it puts out. Every time I used the Proheat 2X the carpet was wet for about three days, and about a week before it was completely dry. In an attempt to suck up all the water I could, I went over the carpet many times, which made it take hours to clean even the tiniest of rooms. The carpet was also crunchy for a couple of days after it dried.

Also, the hose attachment started dumping the cleaner out whenever I used it. And finally this morning, when I REALLY needed the machine to work (bad dog!), it used an entire chamber full of cleaner to clean a 2'x6' area. And only sucked up about 10% of the water. I've had this for about 4 years, but because it was such a hassle I only used it once or twice a year (in my small house). I also used the hose attachment about once a year. So that's no more that 12 times, before it completely broke.

I bought a Hoover Dual V Steam Vac today. It works so much better! It sucked up almost all of the water it put out. And I feel like it picked up so much more dirt than the Proheat 2X. And because it picked up the water so well, I didn't have to go over the same spot multiple times, so it cut the time down a lot.

Received a nonworking vacuum. It seems to be made so cheaply. The carpet height adjustment knob would not stay in place. When you put it on the longest setting it just slid by itself down to the lowest setting. Made with a lot of cheap plastic parts. I would not recommend this product.

** Note ** - As of this writing, Amazon is pricing the DC17 "all floors" model higher than the DC17 "animal". While the product nomenclature is a bit confusing, as far as I can tell (and based on other reviews), the only difference between the two is the Animal includes an upholstery brush attachment. Even if you don't want said attachment, there's no reason to pay more for the DC17 All Floors than the DC17 Animal. **

While I purchased the DC17 Animal, it's largely the exact same product as this DC17 "All Floors", with the exception of the upholstery tool, which I didn't even mention in my review. Thus, my review is applicable to the All Floors, too.

I was recently in the market for a vacuum to replace my aging Bissell bagless unit, which even when it was new was just a mediocre product. I didn't know much about vacuums, but based on customer reviews and word of mouth, I was under the impression the Dyson was one of the better products on the market. I debated between the DC17 Animal and the DC25 Animal, and ultimately decided to go with the former because I have a single story house, so the added heft of the DC17 (which seems to be the main drawback vs. the DC25) wasn't that big an issue. Note I live in a ~2000 sq ft single story ranch, with mostly wood floors and area rugs with some tile (bathrooms, kitchen), and I have a large dog that sheds a lot. At the time of my purchase, I didn't know much about the pros/cons of certain types of vacuums (i.e. upright vs. canister, bag vs. bagless), but the product description for the Dyson said it works well on all types of floors and my previous vacuum was an upright, so I figured the DC17 would be a good choice and purchased it from Amazon.

I used the Dyson for 2 days before returning it to Amazon, and I have to say overall I think this product is mediocre at best and is dramatically over-hyped, the result of a very effective marketing campaign. The primary reason I returned the Dyson is because I feel it is too harsh on many types of floors. Many of the other reviews complained that the Dyson sucked up large quantities of carpet fiber, and this didn't really bother me since all rugs/carpets do shed to some extent and a vacuum picking up fibers doesn't necessarily indicate damage to the carpet/rug. Well - after vacuuming my expensive persian area rug only twice, I noticed the rug was starting to fray in certain areas. The damage wasn't terrible, but the fact that it was apparent after using the Dyson only twice was extremely disconcerting - I imagine within a few months the dyson would completely destroy the rug. The problem, in my view, is the brushes are too stiff and the brushing mechanism is too strong. While it is true that the brushes can be turned off, I found that with the brushes off the Dyson didn't do a very good job of picking up pet hair on the rug. Additionally, the brushes turn on automatically every time you turn on the vacuum, so it would be extremely easy to accidentally run the brushes on floors that could potentially be damaged (wood floors in addition to rugs). I also ran the Dyson over a small, cheap bathroom area rug and the Dyson literally picked it up and tore out the fibers in only a few seconds - not a big deal since it was a cheap area rug, but highlights the disadvantage of having only suction setting - you can forget about using the Dyson on any small, lightweight area rug, it will pick it up.

Pros:

1) Strong suction, although this "pro" can easily become a "con" because it cannot be adjusted

2) Amazon has a relatively painless return policy

Cons:

1) DC17 is, in my opinion, way too harsh on many types of flooring. It can damage rugs, and I didn't feel too comfortable using it on my wood floors, either.

2) Terrible included instructions (no mention of what types of floors the brush should or should not be used on, or what the various attachments are intended to be used for)

3) Overall cheap build quality and materials - this was a bit of a surprise given the price. The machine doesn't feel very well put together, and is constructed mainly of extremely cheap feeling plastics (of the brittle type that typically don't last long).

4) Overpriced

5) Large, cumbersome, and not very maneuverable. This lack of maneuverability is a big issue given the brush is so harsh - for example if you want to avoid a certain area (such as the tassly fringe of an area rug - no this is not the part that I damaged) while still vacuuming the surrounding area is not very easy. You'll have to use the want for such areas.

In the end, I returned the Dyson and purchased a Miele S4212 Neptune Canister vacuum (All New Miele S4212 Neptune Canister Vacuum Cleaner With STB 205-3 Turbo Tool). While it's a bit of an apples to oranges comparison (bagless upright vs. bagged canister), I feel the Miele is a vastly superior product in virtually every way - it also has strong suction, but the suction is adjustable, it's infinitely more maneuverable, employs better materials and has overall better build quality and fit & finish, and it's suitable to a wider range of floors (includes both a parquet attachment for wood floors, and a turbo brush for rugs/carpets - and the turbo brush is much gentler on rugs yet still picks up the dog hair).

I will admit, there are certain situations where the Dyson would be a suitable choice, and for that reason I give it 2 stars rather than 1. In my opinion, the ONLY situation where I'd recommend the Dyson is if a) your home consists almost entirely wall to wall carpeting (with maybe a little tile, but no wood floors or rugs) and b) you have messy people and pets living there and need the above average suction. For example, the type of apartment a lot of college kids live in typically has entirely wall to wall carpeting and lots of big messes, but what college kid drops $400 on a vacuum? And even if you do have such needs, there are surely better built options in this price range.

Conclusion: Overhyped, overpriced, and in the end just not that good of a product. It has a narrow range of situations in which it excels (wall to wall carpeting with lots of dirt and pet hair), and a lot of situations in which it really isn't the best choice (wood floors, rugs, anything that requires maneuvering in tight spaces, and any task that requires the ability to turn down the suction such as vacuuming drapes, furniture, light area rugs etc.). It's a sledgehammer (and an overpriced, cheaply constructed sledgehammer at that), and unless you want a sledgehammer for every cleaning job, I'd consider other options.

I bought this vacuum about ten years ago and have never had a moments problem with it. I change the bags and clean the rotating brush of any string, hair or fuzz regularly. I had a salesman come to my door to show me his expensive $2600 vaccum and he had trouble proving his vaccum over mine. His was also 12 amp and made just as much noise. He had trouble finding any problem with my vacuum. He left without a sale. I feel I made a very good choice with this vacuum. It is a little noisy but for the price, quality and power its not a problem for me. Also, if you don't change the bags and clean off the rotating brush regulary any vacuum will stop working even the most expensive ones.

I had a panasonic vacuum for over 15 years. When it was unrepairable, I tried to buy a vacuum from a department store because it was too far to drive to a particular store to purchase one and I really did not want to purchase it online. The Hoover Windtunnel I bought lasted a month before the motor burned out picking up one small metal nut(I took it back to the store and got a refund) It was extremely noisy. I then decided to purchase one online. I love the vaccuum, its quiet and does an excellent job on both bare floors and carpet. The only thing I miss from my old vacuum is the quickdraw attachment hose that allows you use the attachments without bending down to release the hose from the vacuum itself. What was panasonic thinking, they have a great feature that should be available on all their vacuums. Also its difficult to get bags for this vacuum, the ones sold with this vacuum are wrong and I have yet to find them. I plan on calling panasonic.

I adore this dishwasher! Is it weird to love an appliance so much? I bought this along with the Cafe range and microwave. It's beautiful, sleek and modern and looks great in my kitchen. The controls are on the top of the door and are very easy to understand. One of the greatest things about this dishwasher is I can fill it up with an entire container of detergent! It gives a little warning light on the control panel when the detergent starts getting low. Super convenient!

This is also the quietest dishwasher I've ever seen (heard? not heard?). Sometimes I'll forget if I started it or not and have to actually put my ear against the counter to hear if it's running. Even then, it may take a little bit to figure it out. This was a huge benefit as I live in a loft with the living room/kitchen/dining room all open.

The top rack slopes so that on one side you can put taller glasses and the other side, shorter. This allows you to get taller items in the opposite side of the lower rack, like cookie sheets.

Overall, great design, great function!
